Loose Stomach Skin Treatment in Scottsdale: Med Spa or Surgeon?
What RF microneedling can tighten, and when loose skin needs a surgeon instead.
Loose stomach skin treatment in Scottsdale starts with one honest question: is this something a med spa can tighten, or does it need a surgeon? Crepey or mildly loose skin after pregnancy or weight loss can often be improved without surgery; skin that hangs or a bulge from separated muscles can’t. I’m Nurse Bea, an Aesthetic Registered Nurse and Licensed Aesthetician, and this is how I sort it out with clients.
Treatments here are done by me or by a certified aesthetic registered nurse who is also a Certified Laser Technician on my team, following my protocol.

Why does stomach skin get loose?
Pregnancy, weight loss and aging stretch the skin and weaken what holds it firm. Cleveland Clinic lists aging, pregnancy and weight loss as the usual causes, and after major weight loss your skin may not be elastic enough to shrink back to its natural shape.
Age and sun add to it: changes in the connective tissue reduce the skin’s strength and elasticity. Thin, wrinkly “crepey” skin on the stomach is part of the same picture, and Cleveland Clinic notes crepey skin typically can be traced to sun damage.
Skin tightening or tummy tuck: which do I need?
It depends on how much skin there is and whether there’s a bulge underneath. A little loose or crepey skin is a med spa case; skin that hangs or folds over needs a plastic surgeon, because the AAD says that with lots of sagging skin, skin-tightening may not be helpful.
At your consultation I look at two things: how much skin there is when I gently pinch it, and whether there’s a bulge that doesn’t flatten.
| What I see | Who treats it |
|---|---|
| Crepey or a little loose skin | Here: Genius RF microneedling (sometimes traditional microneedling) and a home routine |
| Skin that hangs or folds over | A plastic surgeon (tummy tuck) |
| A bulge or ridge that doesn’t flatten | Your doctor or a physical therapist first |
A tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin and restores weakened muscles, something no med spa treatment can do. I’ll tell you honestly if that’s where you are.
What can RF microneedling do for loose stomach skin?
It can firm and smooth mild to moderate looseness by building collagen. The AAD explains that with RF microneedling, adding heat can increase your body’s ability to produce collagen.
The research on the stomach is still small: in a study of 15 women with mild to moderate loose skin after pregnancy, RF microneedling improved skin measurements and over 78% of participants were satisfied with the treatment. That study used a different RF device; we use Lutronic Genius, and many of my clients who had Morpheus8 elsewhere found Genius far less painful. More on RF microneedling.
Can I start while I’m still losing weight, or on Ozempic?
Yes. In my practice you can start Genius RF while you’re still losing weight, and we adjust the plan as your body changes.
Fast weight loss on any medication can leave skin loose: Cleveland Clinic notes these changes can happen any time you lose a significant amount of weight very quickly. Surgery is different: plastic surgeons want you at a stable weight first. If your hair is shedding too, see my page on hair loss on GLP-1 medications.
What about loose skin after pregnancy?
Mild loose skin after pregnancy can be treated with Genius RF, and in my experience, sometimes traditional microneedling is enough on its own to tighten a loose stomach after pregnancy. I prefer to start once you’ve finished breastfeeding, and if stretch marks bother you more than the looseness, my stretch mark treatment page covers the plan for those.
If you’re thinking about a tummy tuck, timing matters: plastic surgeons note that a future pregnancy can undo the results.
Is my belly bulge loose skin or separated muscles?
If there’s a bulge or ridge that doesn’t flatten, it may be separated muscles, not skin. Diastasis recti occurs when your rectus abdominis muscles (six-pack ab muscles) separate during pregnancy, and it needs a doctor or physical therapist, not skin tightening.
Cleveland Clinic recommends working with a physical therapist who knows the condition. Once the muscles are taken care of, we can look at the skin.
What helps loose or crepey stomach skin at home?
A retinoid body lotion, sunscreen on exposed skin, strength training and enough protein. Cleveland Clinic recommends retinol topical creams to help reduce that crepey look, along with daily sunscreen.
During weight loss, regular exercise helps you preserve muscle as you lose weight, which helps your shape, and I also recommend enough protein and, for some clients, at-home LED. Home care won’t tighten hanging skin, but it supports what we do in the clinic.
Does loose stomach skin go away on its own?
A little may improve with time, but significant loose skin usually doesn’t shrink back fully. After major weight loss, your skin may not be elastic enough to shrink back to its natural shape.
That’s why the consultation matters: we look at what you have now and whether it’s a med spa case, a surgeon case, or something to give more time.
How much does loose stomach skin treatment cost in Scottsdale?
The consultation is free, and body treatments are priced by area, so I quote yours at the consultation rather than publishing one number. Sessions on the body are usually 6 to 8 weeks apart, and how many you need depends on your skin.
Numbing and Pro-Nox are included, and nobody here works on commission. New clients hold their spot with a $50 deposit that goes toward treatment or products, or is refunded on request.

More questions I get about loose stomach skin
With numbing and Pro-Nox, clients here usually rate RF microneedling around 2 to 3 out of 10. Without them it can be much more uncomfortable, which is why both are included.
Yes. When stretch marks are the main concern I recommend the TotalSkin Solution, and when loose skin is the main concern, Genius RF microneedling on its own; we decide at your consultation.
Gradually. Collagen takes time to build, so changes show over the months after your sessions rather than right away, and we check your progress at each visit.
